Rebecca and Will flew home to Newfoundland to go to Cape Spear and take some cool photos on a windy day.
Cape Spear is a national historic site and the most easterly point in North America. Because of this, the wind is always blowing, and the views are unbelievable – wild cliffs surround the lighthouses (one of them the oldest lighthouse in Newfoundland), you can pick berries, hike the many trails, and take in the incredible scenery. It’s a must-see spot for anyone travelling to Newfoundland and Labrador.
While the sunrises here are undeniably epic and are one of the top things to do in NL (you’ll be the first to see the sunrise in the continent), sunsets here are no joke either. I love sitting on the cliffs and watching the sun set over the hills, and I especially love exploring at sunset with folks from away as they take it in for the first time. It’s also much less busy in the evenings, so you have the entire area to yourself to explore!
While we didn’t see any on this particular day, you can often catch whales in the distance from the shore, and pick bakeapples in late summer.
Rebecca and Will spent the evening walking along the cliffs, taking in the sights and laughing their butts off as the warm summer wind whipped through their hair. It was an unforgettable evening.
