“Alex is truly the best! As a photographer myself, I’m very particular about photos and having them feel and look natural. For my business headshots, I wanted something fun and relaxed as opposed to stiff and corporate. Alex exceeded my expectations; I feel like myself in the photos, but they still have a professional feel. If you’re looking for authentic images with the highest quality, Alex is your girl.”

How it works

My most popular option for business owners is the Mini Social Cure. In one session, we create 3 months worth of content for your brand for ALL your platforms.

As a VIP bonus, you get all of your images within 48 hours!

  1. Tell your story
Together we will dive deep into your goals and target customer. Using that information, we’ll create 60 caption ideas that we need to engage and grow your following, and I’ll teach you my formula for writing amazing captions (no English degree needed) as well as TONS of tips for growing your following.
  2. Make you look amazing
We’ll capture a variety of gorgeous headshots that you can use across all of your channels as well as for things like podcast interviews and magazine features
  3. Create all the visual content you need
Finally, we’ll create a set of images that fit your content pillars so that you have three months worth of content for your social media feeds. If you own a product-based business this looks like photographing your products alone or with models; if you own a service-based business this can be creating a variety of images of you, as well as custom stock images just for you. We can also include professionally-shot reels and short videos that fit your brand!
  4. Start seeing results, fast
You can start implementing everything instantly and watch your followers and sales numbers grow!

…Did we mention that you get all of your photos back within 48 hours?

Alex is an amazing photographer and we are so delighted with the work she did for us. I have had some hard times with feeling insecure in photo sessions in the past, and Alex did an excellent job of making it feel easy and joyful! I cannot recommend her enough and am already looking forward to our next shoot!

Alex has a knack for picking up on the right moments for a photo and her work is a testament to that. I love all the photos she has sent me and it’s given me a lot of content to work with, so it makes my job a lot easier. I’d definitely recommend hiring her and will continue to do so for future projects.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I am super awkward and hate having my photo taken. Can you make me look and feel more comfortable (or just photoshop me in)?

A: Making sure that people both look AND feel comfortable is my zone of genius. I have photographed thousands of people over the past twelve years, and the overwhelming response I get afterwards is always how easy and relaxed the experience was. If you are a regular person who has never modeled before or who hates getting their photo taken, I would love to make sure that you get images that you truly love. The shoot is only finished when we’re both thrilled with the result.

Q: I don’t know my content pillars (or, I don’t know what that even means). Can you help?

A: No worries! When we meet for your VIP day, the first thing we’ll do is go over some social media strategy basics. I’ll fill in all of the blanks using data we already have available, and show you how to use it to your advantage.

    Q: Can I pair a headshot with a couples/family shoot?

A: Sure can! I’d recommend booking an hour-long session for this.

Q: Where can we take these photos?

A: The photos can be taken either at my studio on Water Street or in a cozy downtown space. At this time, I am not traveling for headshot sessions. If you are booking a VIP or multi-day session, I am happy to chat about finding a location that matches your brand.

    Q: Is your studio accessible?

A: My studio is on the second floor and accessible only by stairs. If you would like to book a shoot at an accessible location, please feel free to reach out at and I am happy to coordinate an alternate location or otherwise do my absolute best to accommodate your accessibility needs.

Q: What should I do to prepare?

A: You can do as little or as much as you’d like! Booking a hair and makeup artist is a great way to start your day and help you feel like the best version of yourself. I recommend bringing a few outfit options (a mix of casual and formal) as well as a handful of small props: your laptop or iPad, notebook, and a couple of your favourite books. If you own a product-based business, bring as many different options as you can fit in a few tote bags.

Q: I’d like to book something, but I’m not sure which option is right for me. Can we chat first?

A: Sure can! You can book a get to know you call at this link.

I give into my imposter syndrome A LOT. Al I give into my imposter syndrome A LOT.

Almost constantly running through my brain is this train of thought: I am not the most qualified to do this. Other people can do what I do but better, cheaper, faster. This is pointless. I should just give up.

I swear, sometimes the only thing that fuels me is my stubbornness to prove this little asshole in my brain wrong.

So. Here's the deal. Real talk.

I have driven past this view a thousand times. Every single time I do (monthly, if not weekly, for the past 10 years or so) I think about stopping to photograph it. Literally every. single. time.

Yesterday, I was driving past and thinking about this yet again. Thinking about how I'd love to get a shot of this sweet little scene on the isthmus.

Then the excuses from my little asshole brain started coming in as usual. Other people have shot this better. Other people CAN shoot this better. I'm tired. I'm just going to keep driving home. I'm really tired. I'd rather get home and go to bed than get out, go for a walk, take the damn picture. Maybe next time.

Then, instead, I turned the truck around. I parked. Walked down the hill near the highway. Took the damn photo. Smiled really big.

Thanked myself for taking a chance.

✈️ When I travel, whether it's to Fogo Island ✈️ When I travel, whether it's to Fogo Island or somewhere much farther (in the before times), I like to pack it real light. I once got so excited for a cheap no-luggage flight that I backpacked for a week in Europe with a single pair of pants, some underwear, a couple of extra tshirts... all tucked in around my camera gear. 😂 I can’t say I loved the sink-laundry life (or having to buy socks in a different country as soon as I got off the plane), but I DO love being able to grab my stuff and go on an adventure on a moments notice!

I've switched up my gear recently to be more lightweight, and here's what I currently take in my camera bag when I go anywhere:

📷 Sony Mirrorless Camera: I'm shooting with the A7R and so far so good! Also two lenses; the 35mm and 85mm f1.8
🐦 DJI mini drone (this is new and fun and terrifying!)
🔋 Batteries, chargers, and lens cleaners
🍫 Granola bars and almonds for the hangrys while waiting for everything to line up
🧦 An extra pair of socks as a trauma-response

What‘s the one thing you won’t travel without?

If I could go back in time and give my 15-year-old If I could go back in time and give my 15-year-old self some advice, I would tell her this:

You will always doubt yourself, but keep going anyway. Perfection does not exist, and the fun is in the pudding.

What advice would you give your younger self? I would love to hear!

I started my life as a photographer about 12 years I started my life as a photographer about 12 years ago. I was 15, and I wanted SO BADLY to be a professional photographer. I didn’t know what the buttons did. I didn’t know where the memory card went. I had no idea what I was doing. But oh damn, was I persistent.

There may not have been a seat at the table for me as a 15 year old girl with a crappy camera, so you can believe that I dragged my chair up and made myself a seat! It was overwhelming and hard at first, but I was determined to make it work, and today not only is this my full-time job, but I’m helping so many people conquer their fears and doubts so that they can pursue their dreams of being a photographer too!

What made you start your path?

The number 1 question I get about my courses is: Do I need a new camera? The answer? Any camera can take good photos if you know how to use it (and really, so can an iPhone: the best camera is the one you have on you when the stars align).

You don’t need to have the latest or greatest by any means, and I often tell people to go on Kijiji and grab the cheapest Canon Rebel they can find just to get started. Once you’ve figured out what the buttons do... the word is yours.

In full disclosure, in creating my crash course, I kept the scrappy 15 year old me in mind. If you can change the lens on your camera and turn it on, you can get started on this course right now and be taking amazing photos by lunchtime!

Sign up for the 15 minute crash course in my bio for just $7.

Just an appreciation post for Fogo Island. ❤️ Just an appreciation post for Fogo Island. ❤️
I’m heading to Fogo island today and I am SO EXC I’m heading to Fogo island today and I am SO EXCITED. Going to spend the weekend hiking, eating good food, and taking in the scenery. Might even see if we can get some spring partridgeberries (they’re sweeter than in the fall from the frost). 😍 anything we should check out while we’re there? On our list is Bangbelly, Scoff, and the Lion’s Den trail!

Also, an update on family adventures: there are only three spots left for spring, and I’m not taking any summer sessions! If you’re on the fence, today is probably your last chance to sign up for a session in which the kids get messy, you all have a big laugh, make memories, and walk away with some photos that will make you cry in ten years or so. The link is in my bio to book!

📢 Calling all grass-stains, jam hands, and beau 📢 Calling all grass-stains, jam hands, and beautiful imperfections: it’s time for a family adventure! 🪁

Let’s capture the moments in between. The photos that will make you laugh so hard you snort and make you cry with nostalgia in 10 years when your little ones are all grown up.

What does an adventure session look like?
I’ll come along to one of your favourite places: whether that’s a boil-up on the trail, seeing who can go farther on the swings in your own backyard, dipping toes in the freezing ocean, or the kitchen where you all make a state trying to bake cookies. I’ll hang out and lightly direct your whole crew to make sure we get your best sides (and we will all collectively promise not to worry if there’s a small meltdown or two, ok?)

We’ll still get a nice photo for nan’s fridge! But more than that, we’ll capture a moment in time that you can look back on years from now and say: yes, that was, and is, us. Our beautiful, wild, rambunctious crowd that I love with my whole heart.

I’m opening my calendar up to just a few of these sessions this spring. If you want in, check out the link in my bio to get your spot! Sessions available in town and central ☺️
