This guide covers everything you need to know to plan your perfect Newfoundland Family Photos.Whether you live here or you’re visiting on vacation, family photos are a perfect way to capture this moment in your family’s history.
How long should a family photoshoot be?
Family photoshoots are on average 1 hour long. That gives us the perfect amount of time to go for a little adventure – I love to start our sessions on Signal Hill or Cuckholds Cove for the epic ocean view, and then finish our session with a gelato at The Parlour, where we can get some cute photos exploring “Jellybean Row”.
How many pictures should be expected from a 1 hour shoot?
You’ll receive approximately 40 images from your 1 hour photo shoot. These pictures will all be edited, and you’ll have all the rights to download and print at any size you’d like, or share on social media.
What time of day is best for family photoshoot?
I prefer to do sessions near the ocean later in the day when the sun is low in the sky. This gives us the most flattering light, and reduces the amount of squinting! I know that this often coincides with bedtime, and I’m happy to schedule the session around your child’s sleep routine.
When should you take pictures outside?
Anytime between June and October are great for family photos in Newfoundland.
Can we reschedule if the weather is bad?
If it’s calling for truly terrible weather like hurricane winds or a heavy downpour, I’m happy to reschedule! If it’s just a little RDF (rain drizzle fog) – welcome to Newfoundland, that’s our typical weather 😉 Fog + drizzle make for some of the most gorgeous photos. I also have an indoor studio on Water Street, so if you’re short on time, we can also do your photos there.
How long should it take to get family pictures back from a photographer?
You will receive all of your edited photos within 2 weeks or less.
What to wear for outdoor family photos?
I recommend going with one of two options…
Option 1: Dress like you’re going to the same party. You don’t need to match, but choose a color family and have everyone dress in that general style.
Option 2: Have everyone pick out + wear their current favourite outfit (yes, even the toddler). We;re capturing a moment in time that you’ll look back on decades from now… one of the most fun aspects of vintage family photos is seeing what everyone is wearing. Having everyone dress themselves is a fun way to involve the kids beforehand, and ensure that the memories are true to form.
