Mallard Cottage in Quidi Vidi is one of the top places to have an intimate wedding in St. John’s.

This intimate wedding took place in St. John’s, NL with the ceremony at St. Patricks and the reception at Mallard Cottage, with stops for photos at some iconic locations in St. John’s along the way.

We started the wedding day at the couple’s home where the bride got ready with her family and pet dog. Many traditional Newfoundland elements were incorporated into the wedding – including the Irish-Catholic tradition of hanging a rosary on the clothesline to keep the rain away (it worked!). They went one step further and hung the wedding dress out as well!

Ceremony location: St. Patrick’s Parish

Reception venue: Mallard Cottage

Florals: Kristyna Adamova

After the ceremony, the couple took off in a renovated vintage volkswagen van turned truck – they both love the classic Westfalia and it made a fantastic getaway car!

We then met their family – and the dog! – in Bannerman Park for some portraits.

After Bannerman, we found the bridal party (just a maid of honor and best man) and went for a little hike in Logy Bay. It was a perfect spot on the east coast trail to relax and take in the scenery. The bride’s veil blew off at one point, but she laughed it off and we tied it to her shawl.

Beautiful florals provided by my favourite florist, Kristyna Adamova. She always knows exactly how to blend wildflowers and local foraged plants into her bouquets to make them look oh-so-sweet.

Now that all the portraits were complete, it was time to meet the guests at Mallard Cottage so the wedding festivities could begin!

The Mallard Cottage beer garden was a perfect spot to have a big sparkler exit.
